Alongside

“Alongside” is a term used in maritime operations to describe the position of a vessel or object when it is positioned next to a dock, pier, or another vessel. When a vessel is “alongside,” it is typically parallel to the structure or object it is next to, with its side touching or very close to the structure for the purpose of loading/unloading cargo, passengers, or for other operations.
