Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)

An international maritime treaty laid down by the IMO which sets minimum safety standards in the construction, equipment and operation of merchant ships. Regulations require all vessels to assist another in distress, amongst many other things.
SOLAS V contains the regulations specifically for pleasure craft under 150GT (Gross Tonnage).
