Search and Rescue (SAR)

Search and rescue is the search for and provision of aid to people in distress or imminent danger. Search and rescue assets include many services, such as air-sea rescue (helicopters – normally operated by the coastguard) and lifeboats, operated by the RNLI charity and manned by volunteers.
